What $500 of lab tests will buy you these days

So what does $500 of lab tests buy you these days?  A diagnosis of NORMAL.  Which IS good news, but I don’t feel normal.  Normal means no miscarriages, normal means being able to get pregnant, so I don’t feel very normal.

Well, it wasn’t quite all that black-and-white.  There is more to the story.

Basically all the blood tests were in normal ranges but the Dr. said a couple of them were at the very high end of the normal range.  For example if the normal range was 40-99, I was around 96.  She said the tests showed from that that I was on the edge of PCOS.  So that is a possibility to keep an eye on.

Then there was the hsg.  Basically the dye passed through my left tube right away, but did not go through my right tube.  Then a few minutes later (and I think they put more dye in) it finally went through my right tube.  The Dr. said that sometimes it just does that.  I asked her if my right tube could have been blocked and cleared by the dye and she said it was a possibility.

Then the ultrasound, when they did the ultrasound, I had two big follicles on my right ovary (19 and 12), but I did have a cyst on the left side.  The did give me an Ovidrel injection since the ones on the right looked good and they are going to keep monitoring the cyst.

Putting all this info together I came up with my theory about my infertility.  I told the Dr. what my theory was and I asked the Dr. if it was a possibility and she said yes.  If my self diagnosis is correct then I have a pretty good shot at getting pregnant now, but I’m still not feeling really optimistic since I have had theories before and have been optimistic before and been knocked down every time, so we shall see.

So here’s what I think is the possibility.  If I had a cyst on my left tube, then that side was no good for making babies right?  Which leaves me to my right side.  Now if that tube actually HAD some blockage, then the little egg isn’t going to be able to meet up with the little sperm, even when I was ovulating on the clomid.  So maybe this is why once I was finally ovulating on clomid, that I didn’t get that infamous second pink line.

If all this is true, now my right tube is clear, I’m on clomid & Ovidrel and ovuating, and I had one maybe two good follicles on the right side this cycle.  Yeah!

Then the Dr. said that we will try two months on clomid and ovidrel and monitoring (including this month) and if I’m not pregnant, she said we would move up to adding glucophage and then moving on to more stuff.  She said she has a whole game plan mapped out if nothing happens in the next two months.  I just love this Dr.!!!

So that’s how yesterday went.  Now I’m just trying to get through the next few days until Monday.  They scheduled me for a blood pregnancy test.  I really don’t want to go in for one.  I’m just know it’s going to be negative like always and honestly, I’d rather be disappointed in my own home by myself then to have to be told the results by the nurse. It’s funny though, even though you know that your chance of being disappointed is very good, it’s still pretty hard to wait during those last few days.

And on the computer front, it’s in really really bad shape.  We use apple computers and  we’ve never had one freak out like this before.  Luckily, my husband was able to fool around with one of his other computers and back up some of the stuff from it, so hopefully we won’t loose too much off the hard drive.  I guess we are going to take the poor thing in and see if they can fix it, for once we had something break while still under warranty.  Thank goodness!  So also on the topic of computers, since I’ve been using a PC the last few days, I have noticed a couple little glitches, so sorry if you’re on a pc, you might see a few messed up spots here and there. My husband is going to see if he can fix a few things on it.
